Birmingham City: January Transfers For The 2024/25 Season

There is only one team in Birmingham worth supporting with true passion and Birmingham City is it. I have been supporting them since 1978 when Jim Smith was the manager. He is my favourite manager to date. I am a blue nose ’til I die.

January Transfers: 2024/25 Season

Four players join Birmingham City’s first-team squad and one already here on loan signs a permanent contract. Three defenders (one is a permanent signing, one is on a pre-season agreement and doesn’t officially join the club until the summer and one is on loan) and two midfielders (permanent and on loan). The summer transfer market finished with Chris Davies adding seventeen players to the Blues squad to strengthen us in all departments. Thirteen of those are on a full contract and four are loan signings. 20 players left the club.

Welcome to all of the lads joining Birmingham City and good luck to all those that have left.

After last season Blues needed a good clear out and better players brought in. We certainly got that.

This is going to be a very entertaining season ahead, which will HOPEFULLY end with us as champions or runners up, either way promotion is the number one priority and the class of the new players added to the first team mean we have a brilliant chance indeed.

Thirteen players have been bought in this summer, either on a full contract or on loan.

Unlike in the past when the clueless Chinese owned us and Harry Redknapp was the manager and spent money like a kid in a sweet shop (as exciting and crazy as it was at the time) Blues have been able to do all this within Financial Fair Play Regulations thanks to the savvy business experience of Tom Wagner (Knighthead / Shelby Companies).

All these signings are a great asset to a squad that will be utilised a lot during a tough league like the Championship and a special mention has to go to Technical Director Craig Gardner for his huge part in getting the deals over the line. Well done Craig.
